We first met Trick in Nate’s book, where he thought he was in love with Alyssa and came off as kind of a jerk. Now that he’s joined Havoc and has won his first fights, he’s still licking his wounds from Alyssa’s rejection. After the fights he goes out to a bar with some of the guys and that’s where he finds Mina. There’s definitely lust at first sight, but it’s not until Trick goes to his father’s house for a family wedding that he gets the surprise of a lifetime.Halfway through the first chapter I was already in love with Trick. So much about his character in Nate’s book came into focus and I understood him much better. By the beginning of the third chapter I just wanted to wrap him up in my arms. Then came Mina’s story and my heart shattered into a million pieces. In spite of the vice-like tightness around my chest and tears blurring my vision, I continued reading. With such a crazy, sad, messed up situation for Trick and Mina, I wondered how it would ever be possible for them to find their happily ever after. And my, oh my, it’s such a twisty, bumpy road, and sometimes I wanted to shake these two, but when they finally get it right it’s amazing!
The book touches on and highlights two specific issues in our society: military heroes returning to civilian life and the effects of long term sexual assault. Although parts of it are difficult and raw and may be disturbing to some readers, things are handled in a sensitive way leaving the reader with a sense of justice and hope. Each book in this series is somehow better than the last. Trick and Mina are two tattered, broken souls and while parts of the story are gut wrenching and difficult, theirs is a story of healing, redemption and second chances. You’ll experience so many conflicting emotions that you’ll feel wrung out at times but will arrive at the end of the story with a full and happy heart. I think I said it about other books in the Cocky Cage Fighter series, but Tricks story is the best yet, so make sure you don’t miss it!

I immediately loved Patrick when we met him in Nate's book so I couldn't wait to dive into his story. And what a story it is! There are some really tough topics in this book, but Lane did a great job with them. I read this start to finish in one sitting because I just couldn't wait to see how everything played out.
I received an ARC for an honest review of the book. Things start good in the beginning but then take a turn for nasty, it doesn't last long and things start to get interesting again but in a good way you have sex that turns into love. Its a great book and a great addition to the cocky cage fighters.
At first I thought this book was going to be all about sex. IT does have enough of it, but it also has a decent story line to it. I would read more from this author
There were a few surprises in this one. All of theses books are great and the characters go through so much. I when it all works out, even when they have to fight like crazy to get to the other side. I kinda skipped ahead, nor i need to copy back and read the 3 inbetween that i missed.
I wish this series could have gone on for ever - but I also get that it can't. this series is amazing and well work your time, they are stand alone but interwoven so you get more depth if you have read them in order. Me I like to read authors in publish order anyways regardless of series. Lane's books have evolved and while I love ALL her stuff in my personal opinion this series is the best. The balance and complexity was pitched just at the level I like. So give it a go!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC, Lane I am saying thank you thank you thank you....I enjoyed this so much. I love how you never disappoint and is always changing things up. But HOLY COW!!!!!!!! What a crazy intense book. There was so many twist and turns and some I was not expecting (that is always a nice surprise). Trick is super delicious and sexy as all hell. Man oh man!! Mina is so troubled and pitiful it breaks my heart. I can't wait until her next book LUKE. I don't know how many more sexy men I can handle (Yea right LOL) Please keep them coming Lane!!!
I have loved this series since I first read Jax. Having said that I was a little worried about this book because I really didn't care for Patrick in the previous book. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading a book where he was suppose to be the hero. I'm so glad I didn't let that stop me from reading this book. I honestly believe this book is my favorite in the series and that is saying something because I love all the Havoc guys.
This book is a bit darker than the other books in the series and deals with some really tough topics but Lane Hart did an excellent job writing them and you could feel the emotions of the characters. I felt a strong connection to both characters and couldn't help but fall in love with both of them.
I highly recommend not just this book but the entire series.
